The most important event in the Odoo community calendar has just kicked off - Odoo Experience 2025, running from September 18 to 20. At the first, highly anticipated keynote, Fabien Pinckaers presented the newest, 19th version of the system to the world.
Below you'll find a summary of the key news announced. Excitingly, this is reportedly only 50% of all the changes - we still have to wait until tomorrow for the rest!
Artificial Intelligence (AI) takes center stage
There's no doubt that Odoo 19 puts huge emphasis on AI integration. AI is meant to be not just an add-on, but an integral part of daily work:
- Universal assistant: In every text editing field, you'll be able to invoke AI with the /AI command to, for example, generate or improve content, and then paste it into the document.
- Automatic transcriptions and summaries: AI will be able to automatically create transcriptions from recordings and notes (e.g. in the CRM module), as well as generate concise summaries from them.
- AI agents: It will be possible to install predefined AI "agents" specialized in specific tasks.
- Smart automations: You'll be able to create automations based on AI prompts, e.g. for intelligently assigning tasks in projects.
- Live Chat support: AI will be able to independently respond to customer inquiries in live chat.
- Data enrichment: Thanks to the "/Field Selector" feature, it will be possible to "inject" data from specific Odoo fields into the AI prompt to get more contextual responses.
Sales - smarter quote creation
- Easier structure: It will be easier to create quote sections and subsections directly from the product catalog view.
- Hiding prices: A new option will allow you to hide the prices of individual products within a section, showing only the total for the whole group.
- Opportunity analysis: Clicking the AI icon next to a sales opportunity will show which factors influenced the success probability calculated by the system.
Project Management and Sign
- Automatic configuration: The menu in a new project will be pre-configured based on the service that was sold in the Sales module.
- Streamlined document signing: The process of creating, editing, and sending documents for signature has been significantly simplified, especially with multiple signatories.
eCommerce and Websites
- Greater personalization: New options for choosing the look of the product catalog (list, cards) and the product page template will be available.
- AI page builder: Artificial intelligence will help select a theme for the website.
- Inline editor: After selecting text on a page, the style editor will appear directly next to it, speeding up work.
Point of Sale (POS) - a revolution for restaurants
- Reservation management: A new grid (table) view will allow for easy management of table reservations. There will also be integration with Google Reservations.
- Course order: Waiters will have full control over the order in which dishes are served (starter, main course), and the kitchen will receive orders with a clear breakdown.
- QR code ordering: Customers will be able to place orders directly from their phone after scanning a QR code at the table. Odoo even stated it may send partners ready-made QR stands at its own cost.
- Vendor integrations: Integrations with platforms such as Uber Eats will be available.
HR and Payroll - simplification and accessibility
Previously, this module was seen as a tool for experts. In version 19, Odoo has focused heavily on simplifying and automating it, among others through:
- Automatic calculations: The system will automatically adjust compensation.
- Contract versioning: It will be easy to create new versions of contracts while keeping the full history of changes.
New in reporting: the ESG app and global filters
- ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance): A new app will make it easier to generate complex ESG reports, e.g. on carbon footprint or pay gap.
- Global filters in dashboards: Filters set on one dashboard will be able to affect all the others, and AI will help find data if you don't know where to look for it.
Incredible speed and offline mode
- Odoo 19 is meant to be even faster. Thanks to storing data in the browser cache, the interface is set to render instantly, even on a slow 4G connection. What's more, this will enable offline work! Once the connection is restored, changes are meant to sync in under 50 milliseconds.
Logistics and Manufacturing - new methods and interfaces
- Smart replenishment: A new, configuration-free stock replenishment method will be available, automatically adapting to seasonality and demand variability.
- Barcode management: Goods receipt processes have been improved with automatic barcode validation.
- New Shop Floor interface for manufacturing: The changes are aimed at making work easier for operators in Work Centers.
Other important improvements
- Multitasking in Kanban: You'll be able to select multiple items (e.g. sales opportunities) in the Kanban view and perform a single action on them (e.g. send an email).
- API documentation: New, interactive API documentation will be available directly in the system, complete with ready-to-use query examples.
Note: this list may be incomplete - the items above are simply the ones that were heavily highlighted during the presentation!
