The second day of Odoo Experience brought a presentation titled "Industries," which sheds new light on Odoo's strategy and shows how the system adapts to the needs of specific industries. But before getting to the heart of it, the presenters shared some impressive figures showing the scale of the platform's growth.
Odoo in numbers:
- 170,000 customers worldwide.
- 6,500 employees.
- 11,000 new customers joining... every month!
What's behind this popularity? According to the creators, it's a philosophy built on open source software, no vendor lock-in, fair pricing, and a strong community focused on the product.
The key announcement is 100 pre-configured app and settings "packages," tailored to the key needs of specific industries. This means new customers will get a system that's already tailored to their business from day one, drastically cutting implementation time and complexity.
All the presentations during the keynote were prepared this exact way - by simply installing a database with the chosen "Industry" package.
Examples of Odoo 19 use cases across industries:
Real Estate Agency
A complete property listings website was presented, equipped with a handy map and a comparison tool. The system includes many fields specific to this sector, allowing for detailed property management. Odoo intelligently matches available listings to customer inquiries and lets you generate and send a personalized offer document in moments. What's more, the system can automatically publish listings on external portals.
Architect Firm
It was shown how an architecture firm can manage the entire client acquisition process - from booking a meeting on the website (which automatically creates an opportunity in CRM), through phone contact integrated with a VoIP system, to preparing a detailed quote. Thanks to the integrations, subsequent project tasks are created automatically.
Construction Company
In this scenario, quote requests sent to a dedicated email address automatically create new opportunities in CRM. Preparing a quote is remarkably simple thanks to ready-made templates and integration with a spreadsheet (Odoo Spreadsheet), which can automatically calculate costs based on predefined data.
Furniture Store
A furniture sales process with an in-store pickup option was demonstrated. The system lets you manage sales, scan barcodes, and in the POS module automatically send invoices to the customer's email. New is a dedicated order preparation screen (POS Preparation Screen), which lets warehouse staff see in real time what needs to be prepared for pickup.
Custom Furniture Manufacturer
Here the Manufacturing module plays a key role. The process starts with a quote, and the order then goes to a Work Center, where an employee using a tablet works through the successive production stages. The Field Service app was used to manage on-site installation at the customer's location, allowing a visit to be scheduled, work time to be recorded automatically, and a signature to be collected from the customer on a phone.
Restaurant
Guests can book a table directly through the website. The restaurant manages reservations and orders in the POS module, with dishes split by serving order. The system also helps with procurement, using the new smart replenishment method. Interestingly, PDF invoices from suppliers can be imported into the system, with AI automatically recognizing line items and quantities.
Guest House
A new app allows for comprehensive management of accommodation bookings. The system can easily be extended with additional services, e.g. selling breakfast or organizing events, by adding further Odoo modules.
Accounting Firm
The biggest news is the "Database" app, which gives accountants a single, consolidated view of all their clients' databases. From this level, you can quickly check key information and jump into a given company's system with one click. The document digitization process has been improved with AI - if the system fails to read a value from an invoice, you simply select the relevant field in the form and point to where on the PDF preview that information should be taken from.
Summary
Day two of Odoo Experience is a clear signal that Odoo is becoming even more accessible and ready to use "out of the box" for dozens of different industries. For business owners, this means faster implementations, a lower barrier to entry, and a system that "speaks the language" of their business from day one. We didn't get new information about app features so much as we saw how they're being applied in a very accessible way. This is a direction that will certainly make digital transformation easier for many Polish companies.
